BREAST CANCER PREVENTION & DETECTION

GET EXERCISE. Physical activity benefits the immune system and lowers estrogen levels. Women can begin lowering their risk of breast cancer with as little as four hours of exercise per week.

CHOOSE HEALTHY FOODS. A low-fat diet with fruits and vegetables can help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. A high-fat diet triggers the production of estrogen and can fuel tumor growth.

LIMIT ALCOHOL. Studies have shown that consuming one or two alcoholic beverages per day can increase the risk of breast cancer.

CONDUCT SELF-EXAMINATIONS. Conduct self-examinations. Give yourself a breast exam at least monthly. Check for changes in size, lumps, dimples, puckers and discharge. Consult your doctor about any findings.
