The Funny Thing About Garden Gnomes...
You know, one thing that I've learned is that people will amaze you.
Seriously, I hear it all the time. 'Why would I want a garden gnome?'. Such a comment is commonly said with a pompus smile and condesending tone, I might add.
Well, that's the funny thing about garden gnomes and lawn gnomes. These same people when brought face to face with their first garden gnome tend to say the same thing. 'Ok, that's kind of cute'. Without warning, they've already started to warm up to the idea that all garden gnomes and lawn gnomes aren't equal. Then you show that same person a similarly adorable gnome that just so happens to be wearing their favorite teams College, NFL, or MLB logo and all of a sudden they've gotta have one. It's almost as if everyone pretends that they hate garden gnomes until you reveal that you yourself, are a fan.

It's a true mystery of life. Why do people dislike garden gnomes and lawn gnomes until they actually see one in person? Well, I've got a theory! Many years ago, the company that makes those pink yard flamingos figured out a way to train our youth to hate garden gnomes and love pink flamingos. I say,

once people realize that all garden gnomes aren't just a
little Santa Clause standing next to a mushroom, they start to soften
up.

'We're not going to stand for it any longer!'. I've made it my personal mission to introduce as many people to these adorable little statues as I can. This in itself will assit in breaking down the anti-gnome culture that existed for so long.
People can be complicated and you'll find that some folks are simply pleased with the traditional gnomes and some just adore the novelty ones. What I find is that once people realize that all garden gnomes aren't just a little Santa Clause standing next to a mushroom, they start to soften up. I'd say that the most common response I see is surprise at how cute the little ones are. I hear things like, 'I thought it'd be bigger, the little one's cute'. The reality just makes me giggle to myself as I realize that it's simply just the funny thing about garden gnomes.
We intend to educate the world about the vast variety of garden gnomes and lawn gnomes available and tear down this negative stereotype which has plagued the garden gnome loving society for years.
If you find yourself with friends who are afraid to admit that they think gnomes are cute, don't be afraid....admit to them that you like garden gnomes. If they seem resistant you can always try and explain some of the reasons that everyone should have a garden gnome:
- Add a little excitement and life to your yard or garden
- Express school spirit or team pride
- No more need for a conversation starter
- Keep the neighbors dog/cat out your yard
- Support For Your Favorite College or Team
- Make your house look different
- Add some charm to your home
- Add Some Humor To Your Life
